LAKEWOOD, Ohio — October 2, 2026 — DannLaw today announced that Joseph M. Romano, one of Ohio’s leading consumer bankruptcy attorneys and a sitting Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee, has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Bankruptcy Practice Group joining multi year Super Lawyer Brian Flick, Attorney Whitney Kaster and paralegal Amy Collins . The firm also announced the hiring of three associate attorneys who will strengthen its consumer litigation, class action, and bankruptcy practices across its Ohio offices.
Romano will lead and manage the bankruptcy practice, overseeing case strategy, client relationships, court filings, and day-to-day operations.
Romano previously founded and operated The Romano Law Firm in Cleveland, where he practiced consumer bankruptcy law for years, handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, adversary proceedings, and complex bankruptcy litigation before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. As a sitting Chapter 7 Trustee, Romano brings an insider’s perspective on bankruptcy administration that few practitioners can match. His trustee work remains separate from his role at DannLaw.
“Joe Romano’s arrival transforms our bankruptcy practice,” said Marc Dann, Founding Partner of DannLaw. “He is one of the most experienced and respected bankruptcy attorneys in Ohio. Having him lead our bankruptcy group gives our clients access to a level of expertise that is hard to find anywhere else. At the same time, Jon, Ashtin, and Kelly bring real-world litigation experience that strengthens our consumer protection and class action work. This is a significant step forward for the firm.”
Kelly Carmenates has joined the firm’s Lakewood office, where she will focus on bankruptcy litigation and class action matters. Carmenates previously clerked at The Romano Law Firm in Cleveland, where she assisted with bankruptcy cases including adversary proceedings before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio. She has been working in DannLaw’s bankruptcy practice, including student loan bankruptcy cases, and works under Romano’s supervision. She can be reached at kc*********@*****aw.com.
